What is Laminate?

A laminate is a material constructed by uniting two or more layers of material together. The process of creating a laminate is lamination, which usually refers to sandwiching something between layers of plastic and sealing them with heat and/or pressure.

The materials used in laminates can be the same or different . For example, by applying a layer of plastic film either side of a sheet of glass, the glass is said to be the laminated subject. The plastic is said to be the laminate.

When you walk on these surfaces a large amount of impact as well as airborne noise is created (due to the hard surface) this can often be a nuisance to the people living below.
Sound Service (Oxford) has recently added an Acoustic Laminate Underlay to their extensive soundproofing range.
The Acoustic Laminate Underlay is designed specifically to reduce the impact noise (walking/footfall) creating when walking on a laminate, engineered wooden floor.
The Acoustic Laminate Underlay is made up of a 4.2mm layer of high density resilient rubber sponge with a foil faced moisture barrier laminated to one side.
